Asian Cup – Quater-finals Night 1

What…A…Night! 2 massive games to kick off the quarter-finals for the 2015 Asian Cup. South Korea and Uzbekistan face eachother in Melbourne as Brisbane hosted China and Australia!

The quarter-finals kicked off at the beautiful Melbourne Rectangular Stadium. Pool 1 winners South Korea took on Pool 2 runners-up Uzbekistan. It was such a tight battle. After half time, South Korea started to look lively. There were a few chances but no one could convert. The ref blew full time and we were going to extra time. 14 minutes in, Korean star Son Heung Min put one past Uzbekistan to see the crowd and players erupt! just 15 minutes later, he did it again!!! 2-0!! It was such a great game that sees South Korea march on into the final 4!

Australia were to play at Suncorp Stadium for the second time in a row this time against Pool 2 toppers China. Slow start for either side saw few first half chances, but just after the break, Aussie legend Tim Cahill hit one of the most perfect shots, a bicycle kick from the side of the 6-yard-box. Contender for goal of the tournament!! 16 minutes later, left-back Jason Davidson swung in a cross and that man again, Tim Cahill smashed a towering header into the bottom corner for Australia to see off China, and make thier way into the semi-finals!

In tomorrow’s action, Iran take on Iraq at Canberra Stadium as Japan and UAE meet at Stadium Australia. Winner of Iran and Iraq will play South Korea. And winner of Japan and UAE will face hosts Australia!
